The Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted Olaolu Adegbite and Dankombo F. Morris to deputy inspectors-general of police as part of a wider round of senior promotions.
Commission spokesperson Torty Njoku Kalu announced the approvals in a statement following a plenary meeting in Abuja chaired by Hashimu Salihu Argungu.
Adegbite heads the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Abuja, while Morris leads Zone 4 in Makurdi, Benue State. Both were assistant inspectors-general before their elevation.
The commission also approved the promotion of 10 commissioners to assistant inspectors-general and 17 deputy commissioners to commissioners. The officers had completed promotion examinations and oral interviews.
Adegbite previously served as director of operations at the EFCC. Morris previously served as commissioner of police in Adamawa State.
Argungu urged the officers to improve their performance in protecting lives and property and enforcing the law. The accounts of the announcement did not specify when the newly promoted officers would take up new postings.
