Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims, Recover SUV And Weapons In Enugu

Police in Enugu State say three kidnap victims have been rescued unharmed after officers chased suspected abductors from Independence Layout and recovered the victims’ Lexus RX350 SUV.

The command said operatives from the Anti-Cultism Sub-Unit of the Violent Crime Response Unit acted after receiving information about a carjacking and abduction around 1:30am on August 18.

Police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe said the officers were on crime-prevention patrol along the Port Harcourt Expressway when they moved towards the area. The chase continued to Hillview Road, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled.

The command said officers recovered two locally made firearms, ammunition, a mobile phone and other items. The victims were taken to safety with help from Neighbourhood Watch members and residents.

Ndukwe said police had begun a manhunt for the fleeing members of the syndicate. The command urged residents to keep sending credible security information to nearby police formations.
