The Plateau State Government has filed terrorism charges against five suspects in connection with the March 2026 Angwa-Rukuba killings in Jos North Local Government Area.

State Attorney General Philemon Audu Daffi filed the charges on Tuesday, four of them arrested by the Department of State Services between April 3 and 10.

The four suspects in custody are Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar (aka Auwalu Dogo), Musa Abubakar Ibrahim (aka Yaroro), and Adamu Isa Alhassan. A fifth suspect, Ado Ibrahim, is listed as “now at large.”

Details of Charges

The four suspects in custody face charges of criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism, contrary to Section 269 and punishable under Section 270 of the Penal Code Law of Plateau State, 2017.

The particulars of the offence allege that the group conspired to plan, organize, facilitate, and contribute money to carry out the attack in Angwan Rukuba on March 28.

Adamu Isa Alhassan faces additional charges of culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and dealing in arms and ammunition.

Background

The March 28 attack on communities in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas left at least 30 people dead, including children.

President Tinubu visited Plateau State weeks after the attack and promised justice. Governor Caleb Mutfwang faced criticism for proceeding with a state-organized “Experience Plateau, Arts Meets Fashion” programme despite calls for cancellation following the killings.
