NOUN Bursar Nasiru Marafa Shot Dead While Returning From Gusau
The National Open University of Nigeria has announced the death of its bursar, Mallam Nasiru Gusau Marafa, after he was shot while returning from Gusau, Zamfara State.
The university confirmed the death in a notice issued on Sunday and signed by its Registrar and Secretary to Council, Oladipo Ajayi. Punch and Channels Television reported the announcement.
NOUN said Marafa’s death occurred on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The school did not give further details about where the shooting happened or who was behind it.
The university described Marafa as a dedicated administrator who had served the institution in different roles before becoming bursar. It said the school community was mourning his death and extended condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.
NOUN said burial arrangements would be announced after the family released further details.
