The Nigerian Army has dealt a significant blow to insurgent networks, arresting over 20 suspected terrorists in a series of coordinated raids across multiple states. The crackdown, which occurred over a 24-hour window between April 19 and 20, included the destruction of terror camps and the rescue of kidnapped hostages.

A Nationwide Sweep

The operations were wide-reaching. In Kogi State, troops from the 12 Brigade arrested two suspects and recovered motorcycles and chainsaws. In Kaduna, a suspect confessed to fleeing a camp after internal leadership clashes, while in Sokoto, a terrorist camp was completely destroyed.

Rescue Missions and Drug Busts

Beyond the arrests, the military recorded critical wins in rescue operations. Hostages were freed in Kwara and Edo states, including kidnapped farmers. The crackdown also extended to other forms of criminality; in Akwa Ibom, troops raided drug hideouts and seized large quantities of cannabis, methamphetamine, and codeine.

From dismantling illegal oil bunkering infrastructure in Rivers State to uncovering stolen crude oil in Abia, the Army is attempting to shut down the financial lifelines of these criminal syndicates. The public is being urged to keep providing the intelligence that makes these raids possible.
