A newlywed couple have been abducted while returning from their engagement ceremony around the Kwara-Kogi border area.
Daily Trust identified the couple as Funmilayo Bamidele and Rev. Abiodun David. It reported that they were travelling with four other passengers on Saturday evening when armed assailants intercepted their vehicle along the Iyemero-Eruku route in Kogi State.
The report said the incident was first described as occurring in Kwara State, but local officials later clarified that it happened in Kogi while the victims were returning from Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Channels TV reported that police operatives in Kwara, Kogi and Ekiti states were working together on the rescue effort because the incident occurred around border communities. Vanguard also reported that security operatives from the affected states were involved in the search.
