Nigeria’s women’s beach volleyball pair of Pamela Bawa and Joy Lawrence are out of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games after losing their quarter-final to the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Punch reported that the Dutch pair of Jara Both and Matilda de Groot dominated the contest, taking the opening set 21-14 and the second 21-16. LEADERSHIP gave the first-set score as 22-14. The second seeds had not dropped a set before meeting Nigeria, Punch said.

Bawa and Lawrence had reached the last eight by beating Thailand’s Ainthira Ninsonthi and Phatthanan Wongnongwaeng 2-0, 21-16, 21-13, in Monday’s round of 16.

Team Nigeria’s group stage in Dakar brought a 2-0 win over Egypt and defeats by Japan and Italy.

The loss means the African Under-18 champions miss out on the medal matches, while Both and de Groot advance to the semi-finals.
