Players in Nigeria’s Super Falcons have received the naira equivalent of $100,000 each as President Bola Tinubu fulfils the cash reward promised for their continental title, the sports commission said.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) announced the payments on Monday, following the team’s 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in July 2025.
The awards were for the squad that beat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final in Rabat, recovering from a two-goal deficit.
Tinubu announced the reward package at a presidential reception on 28 July 2025. The presidency’s statement specified $100,000 equivalents for each of the 24 players and $50,000 equivalents for each member of the 11-person technical team.
The package also included the Officer of the Order of the Niger national honour for players and technical staff, alongside three-bedroom apartments.
The housing allocation was to be made through the federal government’s Renewed Hope Housing Scheme, according to the presidency’s announcement.
