NCC Says Over 75 Million Subscribers Compensated for Poor Network Service
More than 75 million telecom subscribers have received compensation from mobile network operators for poor quality of service, the Nigerian Communications Commission has said.
Premium Times reported that the NCC made the disclosure on Tuesday, attributing the compensation to regulatory directives aimed at addressing consumer complaints over dropped calls, network congestion, poor voice quality and slow internet connectivity.
The commission said the compensation reflects its commitment to enforcing consumer protection standards across the telecommunications industry. The figure covers payments made by the major operators as part of the NCC’s compensation framework.
Nigerian telecom users have long raised concerns about service quality, and the NCC has in recent years stepped up enforcement actions against operators who fail to meet minimum standards.
The statement comes as scrutiny of the telecommunications sector continues. The sector remains a key engine of Nigeria’s digital economy.
