NCAA Suspends ‘No Pay, No Service’ Order Against Airlines Over N12 Billion Debt

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended its planned enforcement of the ‘No Pay, No Service’ directive against 11 domestic airlines collectively owing N12 billion.

The decision provides temporary relief for affected carriers, including Air Peace, Ibom Air, Arik Air, and others who faced potential service disruptions. The NCAA had initially ordered aviation fuel suppliers, maintenance firms, and other service providers to suspend services to the indebted airlines.

The suspension was announced amid ongoing negotiations between the NCAA and airline operators. Vanguard reported that the regulator and operators continue to bicker over the debt, with discussions ongoing on how to resolve the outstanding payments.

Daily Trust had earlier reported that disruptions loomed in the aviation sector over the no-pay, no-service order, which threatened to ground flights and leave passengers stranded. The NCAA’s suspension of enforcement temporarily eases those concerns.

The N12 billion debt accumulated over years, covering unpaid navigational charges, parking fees, and other statutory dues. The suspension gives airlines more time to clear their debts while maintaining normal flight operations.
