The Nigerian Air Force says more components of its crashed ATR 42-500 aircraft have been recovered at Igbokoda in Ondo State as underwater search operations continue.

Specialist divers from the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau are working with the Air Force recovery team to retrieve materials from the accident site.

In a statement on Wednesday, October 14, the Air Force said the teams were working day and night. Their efforts are supported by surveys of the underwater terrain and satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery, as well as mud excavation and pumping out excess water to improve access.

The recovered components are to be documented and preserved for the investigation. The Air Force said the search would continue for other relevant materials.

The update follows the earlier search for the aircraft’s flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder, which NaijaTrend reported here.
