Miyetti Allah President Pleads Not Guilty To $2.63m Laundering Charge

Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore National President Bello Bodejo has pleaded not guilty to a 12-count charge linked to alleged money laundering and terrorism financing at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Vanguard and Daily Post both reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned Bodejo before Justice Inyang Ekwo over allegations involving $2.63 million.

The EFCC also accused him of terrorism financing. Bodejo denied the charges after they were read to him in court.

Vanguard, citing the News Agency of Nigeria, reported that EFCC counsel Wahab Shittu, SAN, said the matter was scheduled for Bodejo to take his plea.

His defence counsel, Ahmed Raji, SAN, did not oppose the application for the charge to be read, according to the reports.

Daily Post reported that after Bodejo’s not-guilty plea, the court adjourned the matter for further proceedings in line with the law.

The case is a sensitive legal and security matter because it involves a prominent leader of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and allegations that have not yet been proved in court.

Bodejo remains presumed innocent unless the court finds otherwise.
