Mary Habila’s Family Fixes Friday Burial Despite Police Autopsy Demand
Mary Habila’s family has fixed Friday, 17 July, for her burial despite the Ebonyi State Police Command’s insistence that an autopsy is needed.
Habila, a 26-year-old physiotherapist, died at the Uburu residence of Works Minister David Umahi on 27 June. NaijaTrend’s earlier report on the police demand for an autopsy is here.
Premium Times reported that the funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Deeper Life Bible Church in Nok, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Daily Trust also reported that a burial notice from the family listed the same date and venue.
The Ebonyi police command said Habila’s family had opposed a post-mortem examination, but police spokesperson Joshua Ukandu said the procedure was important to the investigation into the circumstances of her death.
Police said they had made arrangements to engage a pathologist and wanted the family or an authorised representative to be present for the examination.
