Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde says the rescued Oriire pupils and teachers will remain under medical observation before they are formally handed over to the state government.

The development comes after the abducted pupils and teachers were freed following weeks in captivity. NaijaTrend earlier reported the release here and later reported the Army’s account of how the victims were freed here.

Channels TV reported that Makinde visited the rescued victims at the Headquarters of the 2 Division Nigerian Army Medical Services, Odogbo Barracks, Ibadan, where they were receiving medical attention.

The report said the governor disclosed that all 39 pupils and five of the seven abducted teachers had been rescued. He thanked the Nigerian Army and other security agencies involved in the operation.

Vanguard reported Makinde as saying the pupils and teachers would remain under medical observation for 48 hours. In a separate update, the Presidency said the rescued victims were undergoing medical examinations and would thereafter be handed over to Governor Makinde.
