Lawyers Ask Court To Stop Badejo-Okusanya’s NBA Swearing-In

A lawyers’ group has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to stop the swearing-in of Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, as president of the Nigerian Bar Association.

The application turns the NBA election dispute into a fresh court fight after Badejo-Okusanya was declared winner of the association’s presidential poll. NaijaTrend earlier reported her acceptance of victory here.

Vanguard reported that the Incorporated Trustees of the Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners filed the action in suit FHC/ABJ/CS/1471/2026, naming the NBA and the Attorney-General of the Federation as respondents.

The group asked the court for an interim or perpetual injunction restraining the NBA from swearing in Badejo-Okusanya or any other elected national officer until the case is determined or the court gives a further order.

The Sun reported that Badejo-Okusanya won 12,317 votes in the electronically conducted election and is scheduled to succeed outgoing NBA President Afam Osigwe, SAN, on August 21, 2026. The challengers are alleging irregularities in the election.
