Kidnapped Oyo Headmaster Regains Freedom After Security Pressure
Matthew Kolawale Owoade, the Oyo school headmaster abducted after visiting his farm, has regained freedom after security pressure on his abductors.
Owoade, headmaster of Nomadic Basic School in Igbojaye, Itesiwaju Local Government Area, was kidnapped days after the rescue of abducted Oyo pupils and teachers. NaijaTrend earlier reported his abduction and the ₦30 million ransom demand here.
Premium Times reported that Owoade was released after pressure from security agencies. His abduction had renewed anxiety in Oyo’s education community because it came so soon after the larger Oriire school kidnapping case.
The earlier reports said the headmaster was taken around the Budo Aare axis while returning from a farm visit, with the attackers later contacting his family through his phone. Police had said officers were working to secure his release and track the abductors.
The release brings immediate relief to his family and school community, but it also keeps attention on security around rural schools and farming routes in Oyo State.
