ISWAP Finance Operative Surrenders To Troops In Borno

A senior ISWAP finance operative has surrendered to troops in Borno State, according to reports citing the Nigerian Army.

The fighter, whose name was not released, surrendered with two male children to troops of 3 Battalion under the 24 Task Force Brigade of Operation Hadin Kai at about 6:45am on July 25.

The surrender took place along the Ladari-Jegarawa-Tunokalia axis on the Gamboru-Wulgo main supply route. The Army said preliminary profiling showed the man had managed financial activities and logistics for the ISWAP enclave at Jubillaram.

Troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a motorcycle and ₦40,000 from him.

Operation Hadin Kai officials linked the surrender to recent land and air operations against insurgent camps in the North-East. The Army also said about 46 terrorists and family members had voluntarily surrendered to troops in recent days.
