INEC Tells Court Emeka Ike’s Published Voter Data Is Not Classified
The Independent National Electoral Commission has told a Federal High Court in Abuja that published voter information linked to actor Emeka Ike is not classified or sensitive.
The position came in Ike’s N10bn suit over the publication of his voter details. INEC argued that the data in question was part of information already made public under electoral processes.
The actor is challenging the publication and seeking damages. The court filing reported by the outlets puts the dispute on whether the information should be treated as confidential.
Punch and Daily Post both reported INEC’s position that the published data was not classified or sensitive information.
The case arose from Ike’s complaint that voter information linked to him was published. INEC’s response is that the information was not confidential in the way the actor’s suit claims.
The counter-affidavit is a new development in the N10bn suit, which NaijaTrend first reported earlier here.
