The Independent National Electoral Commission says nationwide collection of permanent voter cards for the 2027 general elections begins on Thursday, October 9.
INEC chairman Joash Amupitan announced the date, saying newly produced PVCs will be distributed to local government area collection centres across the country for registered voters to collect.
The cards belong to the 10,772,421 people who registered during the Continuous Voter Registration exercise between August 2025 and July 2026. Voters who moved their registration, requested replacements or corrected their records are also affected.
INEC has not announced a closing date for collection. The commission advised registered voters whose cards are ready to go to their local government offices with valid identification and to collect the cards in person.
The presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, with governorship and state assembly elections on February 6, 2027.
