INEC has published the final list of presidential candidates and running mates for Nigeria’s January 2027 elections, setting out an 18-party field that includes Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

The list, released in Abuja and signed by the commission’s secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, covers candidates sponsored by 18 political parties. INEC also released final candidate lists for the Senate and House of Representatives.

Premium Times and Daily Trust both reported that 16 of the 18 presidential candidates are men, while two are women. For the vice-presidential slots, 14 running mates are men and four are women.

The male presidential candidates listed in the reports include Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku of the African Democratic Congress and Obi of the Nigerian Democratic Congress. Other named candidates include Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party, Oluseyi Makinde of the Allied People’s Movement, Donald Duke of the People’s Redemption Party, Chibuzor Okereke of the Labour Party and Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress.

The two female presidential candidates listed are Okwori Fredrick of the National Democratic Party and Esther Okereke of the National Redemption Party. The female running mates named in the reports are Ofordile Egobia of APP, Usaku Abubakar of DLA, Bintu Konto of LP and Patience Ndidi of YPP.

The publication of the final list moves the 2027 race from party submissions to a clearer national ballot line-up, with INEC now also placing National Assembly candidates before the public.
