Gunmen Kill 24 in Separate Attacks on Sokoto and Plateau Communities
Gunmen have killed at least 24 people and injured several others in separate attacks on communities in Sokoto and Plateau states.
The attacks, which occurred on Sunday, claimed 17 lives in Sokoto State and seven in Plateau State. In Sokoto, armed bandits stormed communities in the eastern part of the state, shooting residents and looting shops before fleeing.
In Plateau State, gunmen attacked a community killing seven people. The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that security operatives had been deployed to the area.
The attacks have renewed concerns over the deteriorating security situation in northern Nigeria, with several communities in Sokoto, Plateau, Katsina and Zamfara states experiencing repeated assaults from armed bandits.
