Group Petitions INEC Over Tinubu Certificate, 2027 Eligibility Question

The Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy has petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission to state its position on questions the group raised about President Bola Tinubu’s eligibility for the 2027 presidential election.

BusinessDay reported that the petition, dated June 19 and signed by Kalu Agu, asked INEC to clarify the legal implications of documents linked to Tinubu’s Chicago State University records and his previous election filings.

Vanguard reported that the group wants INEC to reopen an inquiry into the educational qualifications Tinubu used to secure clearance for the 2023 presidential election.

The petitioners alleged that some records raised questions about Tinubu’s educational history. The claim remains an allegation from the group; neither INEC nor the presidency had been reported in the source articles as issuing a fresh response to the petition.
