Fufore council chairman Yahya Saidu dies
Yahya Saidu, chairman of Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State, has died.
He died in the early hours of Friday, October 9, less than three months after he was sworn into office on July 15, according to Daily Post.
Aliyu Wakili, the House of Representatives member for Fufore/Song Federal Constituency, confirmed the death in a condolence statement issued on Saturday.
Wakili described Saidu’s passing as a loss to Fufore and Adamawa State and offered condolences to his family and associates.
Saidu is the second Fufore council chairman to die in office in less than two years. Shuaibu Babas died on April 23, 2025.
Daily Post reported that Babas’s deputy, Esther Audu, was later sworn in as substantive chairman following protests over the delay in her inauguration.
Burial arrangements for Saidu had not been announced by his family when Daily Post filed its report shortly before 8 a.m. on Saturday.
