Fuel Stations Raise Petrol Prices Again As Depot Costs Climb
Some filling stations and depot owners have raised petrol prices again, adding fresh pressure on motorists and businesses already facing higher energy costs.
The latest increase comes after earlier warnings that petrol prices could rise as Dangote Refinery resumed sales in dollars. NaijaTrend’s earlier report is here.
Daily Post reported that a market survey on Monday night found Empire Filling Station, Ranoil Filling Station and other outlets selling petrol between N1,275 and N1,280 per litre in Abuja, up from N1,220 per litre.
The report said depot owners including MAO, Gulf Treasure, T.Time and NorthWest raised ex-depot prices to between N1,249 and N1,270 per litre, compared with earlier levels as low as N1,187 per litre.
Dangote Refinery, meanwhile, said its petrol gantry price remained at $0.779 per litre after resuming dollar sales of refined petroleum products. The price movement is being linked to uncertainty in the downstream oil sector and higher crude oil prices.
