Four Killed In Fresh Benue Community Attack
At least four people have been killed in a fresh attack on Abaushwa village in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Daily Trust reported that armed invaders entered the village in Ndzorov Council Ward around 11:30pm on Monday and opened fire. The report said local residents confirmed four deaths after the attack.
Daily Post also reported the incident, identifying the affected area as Abaashwa community in Mbaasar, Nzorov Council Ward of Guma LGA. It said Michael Aondoakaa, a Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Benue, condemned the attack and said residents needed security rather than repeated condolences.
The attack is the latest in a long-running security crisis in Benue communities, where residents have repeatedly complained about killings, displacement and weak protection.
Police had not issued a public casualty update beyond the four deaths reported by residents.
