Fire Guts Abuja Building Materials Market At Eda Plaza

A fire outbreak has destroyed shops and goods worth millions of naira at Eda Plaza, a building materials market opposite Chida Hotel in Jabi, Abuja.

The fire was reported in the early hours of Sunday. Footage from the Nigerian Television Authority showed shop owners trying to salvage goods while emergency responders worked at the scene.

An eyewitness cited in the reports said the alarm was raised around 3 a.m. after a trader who owned two shops and a packing store in the plaza received a distress call from another person at the market. The witness said no casualty was recorded.

The cause of the fire had not been confirmed in the reports. Traders at the plaza were still assessing losses, with goods and shops badly damaged before the fire was brought under control.
