FG Warns Parents, Schools Against Examination Malpractice

The Federal Government has warned parents, teachers, school owners, principals, invigilators and students against helping or taking part in examination malpractice.

The warning was issued after Education Minister Tunji Alausa met with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and other education stakeholders.

Ikharo Attah, the minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, said the government had introduced measures to strengthen examination integrity and restore public trust in results.

Alausa said malpractice creates an unfair system for students who prepare honestly, distorts results and weakens confidence in certificates issued by Nigerian schools and examination bodies.

He said students were not the only actors involved in malpractice, and urged parents, teachers, proprietors, principals and invigilators to uphold examination rules and discourage access to examination materials before or during exams.

The ministry said the push forms part of wider education reforms under the Tinubu administration, with public examinations expected to reflect genuine learning and merit rather than shortcuts.
