FG Begins Rehabilitation Of ₦137bn Roads In Borno

The Federal Government has begun rehabilitation work on major road corridors in Borno State, a project officials say is aimed at reopening trade routes and supporting recovery in communities affected by insurgency.

The roads include the Bama–Banki corridor and the Dikwa–Gamboru–Ngala corridor, which link parts of Borno to commercial routes near Nigeria’s border with Cameroon.

Daily Trust reported the project value at ₦137bn, covering the two corridors. Vanguard reported that Vice President Kashim Shettima said the work forms part of President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure push and would support commerce and post-insurgency recovery.

The project is expected to improve movement for residents, traders and security-linked logistics across a region where damaged roads have long affected economic activity.
