Femi Azeez Scores Brace on Debut as Super Eagles Beat Zimbabwe 2-0 in Unity Cup Semi-Final
Millwall winger Femi Azeez scored twice on his Super Eagles debut to lead Nigeria to a 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup semi-final in London on Tuesday.
Azeez opened the scoring in the 4th minute, slotting home after a fast build-up that caught the Zimbabwe defence off guard. He doubled the lead in the 62nd minute with a composed finish.
The 25-year-old has been impressive for Millwall in the English Championship this season. Coach Eric Chelle handed him his first senior cap, and he delivered.
Final Opponent Awaits
Nigeria now awaits the winner of the second semi-final between India and Jamaica. The Super Eagles are defending champions.
The Unity Cup has given Chelle the chance to test new talent ahead of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. Nigeria are drawn in Group L alongside Tanzania, Madagascar, and Guinea-Bissau.
