DSS, Security Forces Rescue Kidnap Victim In Orlu
Security operatives in Imo State have rescued a 29-year-old kidnap victim in Orlu after a coordinated operation involving the Department of State Services, other security agencies and local vigilantes.
The victim, Ibeabuchi Adibenma, was reportedly abducted around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, near Afor-Ogidi Market in Isiala Amaifeke community while returning from the International Market in Umuna, Orlu.
The DSS account said the armed abductors, who allegedly operated on two motorcycles, intercepted the victim’s vehicle and later demanded N15 million from his family.
Security operatives launched an operation in the early hours of Thursday, August 20, and rescued the victim at Ihioma community in Orlu. Two suspected members of the kidnap syndicate were killed during the operation, while two high-calibre weapons and ammunition were recovered.
The victim was taken into protective custody and later reunited with his family. The reports said the operation involved cooperation between state security operatives and local vigilante groups.
