Court Remands Two Katsina Suspects Over Alleged Bandit Support

A Federal High Court in Kano has ordered the remand of two Katsina residents accused of aiding bandit activities.

The defendants, Sani Mamman and Abubakar Umar, were arraigned on allegations linked to support for bandits under the Terrorism Prevention Act.

Prosecutors alleged that Mamman, from Ruwan Godiya in Faskari Local Government Area, was engaged in March 2025 to convey suspected bandits to a forest in Faskari.

Mamman pleaded not guilty and told the court he was not a driver, saying he earned a living by selling beans with a wheelbarrow.

Umar, from Rimi Local Government Area, was accused of attempting to transport arms and ammunition to bandits after his arrest on December 2, 2024. He also denied the allegation.

Justice S.M. Shuaibu adjourned the case to July 7 and 8, 2026, for trial and ordered that the defendants be kept in a correctional facility within the court’s jurisdiction.
