Defence Minister Christopher Musa says suspects arrested over an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration have been taken to court and are now facing trial.

Musa gave the update during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He said investigators considered the alleged plot real and that the matter was now before the courts.

Premium Times reported that Musa described the alleged plotters as people driven largely by financial interests rather than ideology. Daily Post also reported his statement that the DSS and the National Intelligence Agency were still investigating the matter.

The minister said the suspects were initially held while security agencies investigated the allegations, but had since been transferred for prosecution. He said the case was no longer under military control.

The alleged coup plot was uncovered in 2025 and led to arrests of military officers and other suspects. Musa’s latest comments give a clearer official account that the authorities are treating the case as a real attempt, not a rumour.
