Container truck crash damages six vehicles on Kara Bridge
A 40-foot container truck crashed into six vehicles on Kara Bridge, inward OPIC, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday after reportedly developing a mechanical fault.
Lagos emergency officials were called to the scene in the early hours of September 15. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said its team was dispatched at 6:05 a.m. and found seven vehicles involved in the crash.
The affected vehicles included the container truck, a Toyota Hilux, an interstate bus, a Hyundai Odyssey, a Sienna, a Toyota Highlander and a Mitsubishi Hilux. LASEMA said the truck lost control while in motion before ramming into the other vehicles.
Emergency responders worked with LASTMA and the police to control traffic and move the damaged vehicles from the carriageway. The agency said no death or injury was recorded.
The crash happened while repair work was ongoing on Kara Bridge, where damaged expansion joints are being replaced. Motorists using the corridor have faced slower traffic around the construction zone.
