Boko Haram Demands ₦5bn for 416 Borno Captives in Brutal 72-Hour Ultimatum
Boko Haram has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian government: pay ₦5 billion or the 416 women and children abducted from Ngoshe in Gwoza, Borno State, will never be seen again. The group released a video making the demand, and the clock is ticking.
What they said
The video is blunt. The insurgents say this is their final notice. If the ransom is not paid within the timeframe, they will “share” the captives among themselves. They also dared the military to attempt a rescue, claiming they rely on “divine power” to repel any force. It is psychological warfare, but the families of 416 people have no luxury of dismissing it as bluster.
Who is calling for action
The Borno South Youth Alliance has publicly appealed to President Tinubu, Governor Zulum, and wealthy Nigerians including Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu to intervene. For the people of Ngoshe, this is personal. These are their mothers, sisters, and children. The government has not yet issued a public response, and the silence is becoming its own kind of answer.
