Benjamin Fredrick Signs New Brentford Deal, Joins First-Team Squad

Benjamin Fredrick has signed a new Brentford contract and has been promoted to the Premier League club’s first-team squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Nigerian defender’s new deal runs for four years, with Brentford holding an option for one more year. Premium Times and Daily Post both reported the contract and first-team promotion.

Fredrick, 21, has joined Keith Andrews’ senior squad for pre-season as he tries to secure a place after spells with Brentford B and Belgian side FCV Dender.

Premium Times reported that Andrews said Brentford sees “a lot of potential” in the defender and wants him to challenge inside the first-team group. Daily Post also reported that the club has moved him into the senior roster for the new campaign.

Fredrick began his development in Kaduna with Simoiben Football Academy before playing for Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC and Nasarawa United. Brentford first brought him to England on loan in August 2023 and later made the move permanent.

He was part of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles squad at the CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished third. He later made his senior Super Eagles debut in the Unity Cup final against Jamaica at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium.

His loan at FCV Dender ended early because of a knee injury, but he still made 15 appearances across the Belgian Pro League and Croky Cup before returning to Brentford.

Fredrick now enters pre-season with a chance to compete for minutes at club level and rebuild his place around the Super Eagles after missing part of the last international cycle through injury.
