A Kebbi State High Court judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has been abducted from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area.

The attack happened around midnight after the judge returned from Sokoto. Reports said armed men stormed his home along Zogirma Road, fired shots and took him away. No one else in the house was reported injured.

Kebbi police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman confirmed the abduction. He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, had deployed tactical and intelligence teams to search identified locations, including forest areas, in an effort to rescue the judge alive.

A senior official of the Kebbi State High Court also confirmed the incident, describing it as painful for the judiciary. Daily Trust reported that the court leadership had met with security agencies after the abduction.

The police had not announced any rescue or arrest at the time of the reports.
