ASUU Threatens Disruption In Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa Over Unpaid Entitlements

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Kano Zone, has warned that state-owned universities in Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa could face fresh disruption over unpaid entitlements.

The union said the affected governments must domesticate and implement the 2025 agreement to protect industrial peace in their universities.

The warning was issued at a press briefing in Kano, where ASUU said federal universities had begun implementing parts of the agreement while state universities in the zone had not complied.

Daily Trust reported that the warning came from the union’s Kano Zone, led by Comrade Abdulrazaq Ibrahim. Daily Post also reported that the union may resort to industrial action if the delay continues.

The 2025 agreement covers salary arrears, Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance, Professorial Secretariat Administrative Allowance and Earned Academic Allowance.

ASUU also raised concerns over taxation of some allowances, withheld salaries from the last strike, pension remittance delays and third-party deductions.
