Air Peace Grounds Aircraft After Bird Strike At Kano Airport
Air Peace has grounded one of its aircraft after a bird strike at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The airline said the aircraft was operating a scheduled Abuja-to-Kano flight and experienced the bird strike shortly after landing in Kano.
In a statement reported by Daily Post and Premium Times, Air Peace said the aircraft was withdrawn from service in line with aviation safety procedures.
The airline said the plane is undergoing comprehensive technical assessment to determine the extent of any damage before it can return to operations.
Air Peace also deployed another aircraft on the route to reduce inconvenience for affected passengers.
The carrier apologised for the disruption and said the action was necessary to keep passengers safe and comply with operational standards.
Bird strikes occur when birds collide with aircraft during take-off, landing or flight. Many cases cause minor damage, but some can lead to repairs, delays and wider operational disruption.
Premium Times noted that similar incidents have raised fresh attention on wildlife hazard management around Nigerian airports.
Air Peace said safety remains its priority and thanked affected passengers for their patience.
