Damaged Air Peace aircraft engine after ground handling incident in Lagos

Air Peace has warned passengers to expect flight disruptions after ground handling equipment damaged one of its aircraft at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 in Lagos.

The airline said a baggage conveyor belt vehicle operated by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company crashed into the engine of an Airbus A320 shortly after passengers had disembarked from a Kano-to-Lagos flight on Tuesday night.

Air Peace said the aircraft was taken out of service after the incident, reducing available capacity across its domestic network. The airline said it was working to reduce the effect on passengers.

The incident adds pressure to an already stretched domestic aviation schedule, where one grounded aircraft can quickly affect several routes.
