Adeleke calls Osun security meeting after suspected cult killings
Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke has called heads of security agencies to a meeting on Wednesday, October 7, after recent killings involving suspected rival cult groups in the state.
The meeting will address the violence and ways to prevent criminals from using forests as hideouts, according to the governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Samuel Ojo.
Punch reported that two attacks in Osogbo between Friday and Sunday left two people dead and about five others injured.
Ojo told Punch the meeting was intended to reassure residents and keep security agencies alert.
“We need to meet and discuss how to stop these killings by cult groups or any other violent crimes hiding under that canopy,” Ojo said.
The governor’s aide said forest security would be discussed in light of the reported killing of an ISWAP leader in Owo, Ondo State. He warned against using Osun’s forests as criminal hideouts.
Following the latest attacks, Osun Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura ordered tactical teams to raid suspected criminal hideouts in Osogbo, Punch reported.
