AAUA Lecturers Begin Indefinite Strike Over Unpaid May, June Salaries

Lecturers at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, have begun an indefinite strike over unpaid May and June 2026 salaries.

The strike by the university’s ASUU chapter took effect on Friday, July 10, after members resolved to withdraw their services until the outstanding salaries are paid.

A notice signed by the chapter chairperson, Bolu Oshodi, said the action was total, comprehensive and indefinite. It followed earlier congress decisions reached on April 28 and June 18.

The union said members would not teach, supervise students, attend meetings or perform other official duties until the salary arrears are cleared by the university management and the Ondo State Government.

The action is expected to disrupt academic activities at the state-owned university. The union also said letters sent to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over the salary dispute had not received a response in the reports.
