Army rescues 31 kidnap victims in Kebbi, Katsina operations
Thirty-one kidnap victims have been rescued during military operations in Kebbi and Katsina states, according to reports from multiple national outlets.
The reports said troops killed a terrorist kingpin during the operations and recovered weapons and other items. Punch and Channels TV both reported the 31 rescued victims, while Daily Trust carried a wider account of military operations across the country.
The operations were linked to continuing security action in the North West, where troops have been pursuing armed groups involved in kidnapping and attacks on communities.
The rescued victims were said to have been freed during separate troop actions in affected areas of Kebbi and Katsina. The reports also said the military recorded arrests and recoveries in other zones.
The accounts did not give full identities of the rescued victims. The figures and locations are reported as attributed to the military accounts carried by the outlets.
