Troops arrest suspected drug peddler, rescue two kidnap victims in Kaduna and Sokoto
Troops under Operation Fansan Yamma have arrested a suspected drug peddler in Kaduna State and rescued two kidnap victims in Sokoto State, according to matching reports on separate military operations.
Channels Television and Daily Trust said the operations took place on September 12 and 13. The military named the Kaduna suspect as Yohana Musa and said he was intercepted during a stop-and-search operation along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road with a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs and substances.
The reports said the suspect was travelling to Birnin Gwari when troops stopped him. He and the recovered items were taken into military custody for further investigation.
In Sokoto, troops responded to a reported terrorist attack around the Isa Local Government Area and rescued two kidnapped victims. The reports said the victims were handed over for further care after the operation.
The military described the actions as part of continuing security operations in the north-west, where troops have been responding to kidnappings, bandit attacks and movements of armed groups across rural routes.
