Falconets reach U-20 World Cup knockout stage after 10-1 win
Nigeria’s Falconets are through to the knockout stage of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after a 10-1 win over New Caledonia in their final Group F match.
The result gave Nigeria four points from three games and a second-place finish in the group. Daily Trust reported that the Falconets will face England in the Round of 16 on Thursday.
Vanguard described the win as Nigeria’s biggest at the U-20 Women’s World Cup. Nigeria scored four times in the opening 27 minutes, then pulled away after the break.
Ramotalahi Kareem and Winner Onajite David both scored hat-tricks, while Rebecca Adegbemile scored twice. Tosin Rafiu and Janet Seimeyeha Akekoromowei were also listed among Nigeria’s scorers by Vanguard, and New Caledonia’s Joceline Kourevi scored late in the match.
