One Dead, Two Injured In Lagos Demolition Collapse
One person has died and two others were injured after a two-storey building being manually demolished partially collapsed in Aboru, Alimosho area of Lagos State.
The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday at No. 42, Governors Road, Aboru. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said its Alpha Eagle Response Team from Cappa-Oshodi was deployed after a distress call at 12:56 a.m.
Emergency workers cordoned off the area and began search and rescue operations. Preliminary findings linked the collapse to manual demolition work on the building, which had already been reduced to an unstable structure.
The two injured victims were rescued and taken for medical attention, while the body of the deceased person was recovered from the scene.
The Lagos State Building Control Agency and other relevant authorities are expected to continue checks around the site as officials assess the circumstances that led to the collapse.
