The Nigerian woman reported missing after arriving in Doha

A 37-year-old Nigerian woman has been reported missing after arriving in Doha, Qatar, on a Qatar Airways flight from Lagos.

Her family said they last heard from her while she was still on board flight QR1408 on Tuesday. She was expected to meet someone at the airport after landing but did not show up, even though the airline later indicated that she had collected her luggage.

Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, said the airline confirmed from CCTV that the woman arrived safely, picked up her bags and left the terminal.

Achimugu said further checks were being made to confirm whether she reached the hotel tied to her visa booking. He also said concerns about possible human trafficking and forced labour had been raised with the airline while the checks continued.

The woman’s brother, Jonathan Jibo, said she had worked at Lagos airport for almost 12 years but was travelling abroad for the first time. He said she had no friends in Qatar and had already paid for her accommodation before the trip.
