Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued six kidnapped victims in Kebbi State after a firefight with suspected terrorists along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.

The operation took place on September 2 near Mehinua Village in Wasagu Local Government Area, after troops received intelligence about suspected terrorist activity in the area.

Vanguard and Daily Post reported that soldiers from Sector 2 of the joint task force moved to the location, made contact with the suspects and forced them to flee after an exchange of fire.

The six victims were rescued unharmed. A vehicle recovered during the operation was also taken into custody before the victims and the vehicle were handed over to community authorities for further action.

The rescue adds to recent military activity across the North-West, where troops have been trying to disrupt kidnapping networks on rural roads and around vulnerable communities.
