Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero sign in Kebbi State

The acting vice-chancellor of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, Professor Ismaila Mungadi, has resigned after saying recent developments made it difficult for him to run the Kebbi institution effectively.

Mungadi announced the decision in a letter dated Friday, August 28, 2026, addressed to the pro-chancellor and chairman of the university’s governing council. The resignation took effect the same day.

Reports said he had accepted the acting appointment with a mandate to stabilise the university, strengthen governance, restore confidence and academic integrity, and guide the school toward substantive leadership.

He said he had tried to address the difficulties through the right university structures, but concluded that he could no longer meet the objectives for which he accepted the job under the prevailing circumstances.

Mungadi also said remaining in office when he could not discharge the mandate effectively would not be in the best interest of the university. He thanked the Kebbi State Government, the governing council and the university community for the opportunity to serve.
