Kebbi Governor Picks Ibrahim Augie As 2027 Running Mate

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has picked Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Augie as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, replacing Deputy Governor Umar Abubakar Tafida.
The announcement was made on Sunday at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi during a visit by stakeholders from the Argungu Emirate.
APC National Organising Secretary Suleiman Muhammad Argungu said the decision followed professional legal advice concerning Tafida’s eligibility to run again with the governor. He said the move was reached with the understanding and consent of the deputy governor.
Argungu urged APC members and supporters in Kebbi to accept the change and work together ahead of the election. Governor Idris also dismissed suggestions of a rift with Tafida, saying he would work with the new running mate and keep the party united.
Daily Post reported that Augie is a former Commissioner for Finance in Kebbi State. Vanguard also reported the announcement and the party’s explanation for the change.
