Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have intercepted 180 units of explosives in Zamfara State and killed two terrorists during separate operations, according to military reports carried by three outlets.

The explosives were allegedly found with a 57-year-old suspect, Sani Umar, during a vehicle check. The reports said he was moving the 20mm Super Power explosives from Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State to suspected terrorist groups operating around Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Daily Trust, Daily Post and Vanguard reported that the suspect, the vehicle and the explosives were taken into custody for further investigation.

In a separate operation in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, troops were said to have engaged terrorists around Garin Kaso. The military said two terrorists were killed in the first encounter and that troops recovered two rifles, two magazines, nine rounds of ammunition and two motorcycles.

The military also said another group later attempted to ambush the troops from concealed positions. It said the troops fought through the ambush and forced the attackers to flee, while community reports suggested more casualties among the fleeing group.
